Choosing Metropolitan as their 2019 color of the year to me means they’re confident in Metropolitan and don’t see any of the gray shades going away anytime soon and I perfectly agree.

Stating why they chose this, here is what they had to say: "Metropolitan AF-690 emanates nuance, harmony and extravagant ease. Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It's neutral. It's understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty." —Ellen O'Neill, Benjamin Moore & Co.

Metropolitan is a light gray hue with cool undertones. It is basically the neutral lover’s go-to and key with contemporary interiors and makes an awesome choice for a monochrome scheme. It is calming and sophisticated however classy and chic as well. One of the few colors I mostly recommend for my color pessimists and those that prefer color schemes that could easily be swapped.

Again, versatility is another key feature of this color as a neutral and its ability to communicate almost every mood makes it dominate as an overwhelming choice for lots of interior designers. Fact is, I am personally fond of this color, the grays, particularly for its soothing nature and interestingly that it is a color that is still trending today and not going away anytime soon.

Combos and choice of spaces may range from home interiors, some elegant office setting although it is not recommended for spaces that require high creativity, and everything in between. Bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces are few stylish ways to apply the Metropolitan but should best be avoided in any rooms for kids.

Now, Benjamin Moore is also North America's number one paint and color brand. They are a leading manufacturer of premium quality residential and commercial paints. Benjamin Moore is renowned for its expansive portfolio of colors, offering consumers and designers over 3,500 colors.
