You'll Love This: Pantone Color Of The Year 2019, Living Coral (Pantone 16 - 1546)
The famous color experts, Pantone Inc., recently announced its 2019 Color of the Year. From the Pantone website, Living Coral emerged star of the show after carefully considering several colors and these were their reasons:
"It is a color we see in nature, lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, it is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of nature's color and serves as a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life” - Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute vice president stated. She went on to say: "Each color of the year encompasses something about fashion, decorating and design trends while also reflecting what's needed in our world today."
Well, this is a vibrant start to 2019. How does that make you feel?
The decision of color of the year was made by the institute’s consulting division that analyzes each year’s color trends, particularly those that appeared more in branding images and made a reference to Apple and Airbnb’s frequent use of coral during the past few months as a sign of its domination.
Whereas last year’s color of the year, Ultra Violet, was meant to promote adventure, 2019’s living coral suggests a vibrant but mellow attitude. Pantone describes the living coral as “an animated, life affirming shade of orange, with golden undertones.” It is a color of carefree happiness, according to them.
Living coral, and as a matter of fact, all the coral shades works perfectly in small portions because of its vibrancy, however, individual preferences also count. Perhaps you could consider some coral accent walls, throw pillows, centerpieces and some few other statement pieces. Neutral spaces could be enhanced with living coral accessories and could combo well with turquoise or teal, almost every shade of gray, navy blue, green, gold or even black, yes, I love black.
By the way, Pantone Inc. is a renowned New Jersey printing company that has evolved into a color company which has standardized colors for almost every industry. Pantone is currently into the business of colored paints, fabrics and plastics, hence their choice of a color of the year is significant and something interior designers and fashionistas look out for.
